Our goal this year for the Pillowcase Challenge is to collect 1500 pillowcases for local area charities; Women's Shelter, Foster Kids, Police & Fire Department, Veteran's Home, and Nursing Homes.
With your help in 2022, we collected 1080 pillowcases. In 2023, we collected 2064.
We are hoping to provide pillowcases for the Ryan's Case for Smiles as we did last year but unfortunately, they currently do not have an Oregon or Washington Chapter Organizer. If anyone is interested in leading the Oregon Chapter, please email me and I can give you the contact information.

Pillowcases are a fun and fast sewing project. They are addictive to make!
This is a great project for learning how to coordinate fabric....you only need 3 pieces of fabric!
Start with a main fabric print for the body of the pillowcase.
Pick a coordinating fabric for the pillowcase cuff.
Then add a tonal or blender style fabric for that cute little flange.
Pillowcases are also a good introductory sewing project or a first project for a young sewer. It's easy for you to take part in the challenge. We have all the details listed below.

Project Pillowcase 2024 Challenge Details:
Challenge begins September 1st and ends October 31st, 2024.
Final shipments must be received no later than October 31st, 2024 to count toward entries for prizes.
The common size for standard pillowcases is 20 inches by 26 inches. These sizes are approximate, you do not need to be exact.
Regular 100% cotton quilting fabric should be used. Remember to use fun, colorful prints!! Cotton and Flannel are acceptable. Other fabrics types (knits, minkee, polyester, etc.) are not acceptable for this challenge. Labels are not necessary.
Prizes:
Each pillowcase sent in is an entry into the drawing for a $50 Bear Creek Quilting Company Online Gift Certificate.
We will be drawing THREE winners.
Contributors are only eligible to win one Gift Certificate.
Bear Creek Quilting Company employees and families are encouraged to contribute but are not eligible for prizes.
Any decisions not listed that arise are the discretion of Bear Creek Quilting Company.

Winners will be notified directly on November 6th, 2024.
Announcement will be posted in this blog and in our November 9th Newsletter.
Prize winners must have a valid US shipping address to accept Bear Creek Quilting Company Gift Certificate.
Please wash all pillowcases with scent-free detergent before shipping.
Fold neatly and place in a plastic bag, inside your shipping package. This protects the package contents in case the outer bag/box is damaged.
Include your name, address, email, and phone number with the pillowcases.
