  I'd never make it without my machine. It's just my mom's old white, but I barely have the patience to finish one quilt before jumping onto the next! I couldn't imagine hand sewing although I want to give hand quilting a shot sometime.

  I think my favorite tool is my little embroidery scissors. It looks like a little golden bird, and I love the vintage feel. Also- it's really handy for snipping threads from chain piecing and on the longarm!

  I got one of those fancy ergonomic seam ripper and I love it, I didn't think it would make much of a difference but it really makes the process better.

  I dont' know what you call it, but it's a little battery operated automatic seam ripper.... takes a little of the pain out on long seams... :-|

  I could not live without my rotary cutter and my OLipfa cutting ruler. Use them with every project. I have even used it so much I have worn the numbers off one ruler and just got a second one identical to it.

  I like a good sharp needle and good thread. I like to hand stitch, and even if I machine stitch a quilt I would hand stitch the binding, I find hand stitching soothing.

  I couldn't do without a thimble. Hanquilting taught me to use one after handsewing for years without it. Now I can't do without it and often keep it in my jean's pocket even when I'm at work ;)

  It's a rather large tool...but the one thing I couldn't live without is my quilting machine. It's a WOW stretched Singer with an 18" throat. It's basic and no frills and I have to control the stitching myself. It has no computer, no fancy buttons ...it's all about the stitching and my controlling it. I love it. I knew one day I would have a longarm, but never dreamed it would be like this. The best part is that the end creation was totally done by me. I LOVE IT!

  The most important tool I have for quilting would be the rotary cutter! Second would be the rotating cutting board. Just makes life so much easier!

  I would be lost without my silver Ginghers snips. With the nice finger loop, I can wear them while I strip piece or any type of sewing. I learned to use them this way when I sewed sports uniforms. Thanks for a great contest giveaway.

  My stitch ripper. I have more than one. As a new quilter there are days I do more ripping than stitching.   My sewing machine...used to piece by hand...then was told sewing with a machine was now acceptable in quilting!! Then my next best tool is my IPad . Use it more than my computer to view classes, get patterns and access to great contests. THEN my rotary cutter.

  My hands because without them I would not be able to create all the wonderful things that I make for the children's hospital, our vets and the nursing's homes. And thank goodness for the Rotary cutter as this makes cutting so much easier than cutting with scissors and saving your hand and fingers. best thing they ever invented.

  Fortunately I don't need it that often but, the seam ripper is a necessity. When you need to rip seams out and start again, it sure makes it much, much easier.

  I have an olfa safety rotary cutter that my hubby got for me at a safety convention for his job many years ago. I don't know why anyone would use any other type or cutter.   Well I could not live without my rotary cutter. I think of all the times I've had to stop cutting because my hand was cramping with my scissors and wish I had thought of inventing the rotary cutter!   The Olfa rotary cutters are a godsend. I started quilted before these were invented! about 30 years ago. They have improved the designs, sharpness of the steel used for the blade and the design of the handle so that now it is a joy to use. But most of all, the tool I need is patience, and measure twice, cut once motto.

  I couldn't quilt without a rotary cutter. I remember watching some of my moms friends cut out quilt pieces with scissors and I would not be able to do it. I even use a rotary cutter for scrapbooking.

  Rotary cutter, of course, but a close second is just a regular paint brush. I use it to dust off all the nooks and crannies and bobbin housing as I go! It prevents fuzzy build-up.

  You are not going to believe this...it is a Bible! The pedal to my Juki is too high, so I put the Bible under my heel and then it is comfortable to sew. Why the Bible? It is the perfect height and it is solid. Maybe some day I will find a wood block the same size, but until then, my quilts are sewed on a firm foundation!

  Sounds odd, but electrical tape! I use it to mark on my rulers, hold down my backing fabric while basting, and mark out quilting lines. It is more secure than painters tape and doesn't leave residue and is very cheap at the local hardware store.

  My Olfa Rotary Cutter is my very favorite tool. It saves so much time. One of the newer things I like also are the clips to use around the binding when putting quilts together, saves on pokes with pins to the fingers.

  There are several. The rotary cutter and matt, my seam ripper and that 1/4" foot. For hand quilting: my leather thimble, tiger tape... Yes I could quilt without any or all of them but life is so much easier with them. Thanks for a fantastic give-away.

  My rotary cutter I once had a woman come to a quilting group and take out her scissors. She proceeded to cut out her quilt. The length of time it took and the unevenness of her seams. She made her quilt but it could never be entered in our local quilt show.

  I can't live without my binding clips! I use them not only for keeping layers together, but also most of the time as sewing pins when the pinning should be done on the edge! Best tool ever!

  I love my little scissors that can snip chain-pieced blocks or a seam so I can press it the other way. Sometimes I need to snip threads that have sneaked their way on top of the quilt, in between the seams. I'm constantly moving them between the sewing and the pressing stations because they are so useful!

  I could not do without my Lip Edge 24 inch ruler!! It hooks on the edge of my cutting mat and keeps me from moving my ruler while I am making my cuts, love the accuracy I get!

  The only thing I could not do with out is Quilting pins. They hold everything together and are sharper/longer than regular pins.

  Without the rotary cutter, I wouldn't be quilting as, for the life of me, I cannot cut fabrics with scissors (part of the reason is I'm a messed up lefty)
