My drive starts with following the scenic North Santiam River. |

Then I cross the beautiful Cascade Mountains to get from the Willamette Valley to Central Oregon. |

The Three Sisters Mountains, Oregon The Three Sisters are three volcanic peaks of the Cascade Volcanic Arc and the Cascade Range in Oregon, each of which exceeds 10,000 feet in elevation. They are the third, fourth, and fifth highest peaks in the state of Oregon. The three peaks have 15 named glaciers among them, nearly half of all the 35 named glaciers in Oregon. The Sisters were named Faith, Hope, and Charity by early settlers, but "these names have not prevailed", and instead they are named North Sister, Middle Sister, and South Sister. |

WELCOME!

Sisters Oregon is a paradise for all, from the sagebrush of the high desert to the magnificent forests, lakes and rivers on the flanks of the Cascades. |
38th Annual Quilt Show! On a Saturday in July, 38 years ago, Jean Wells Keenan hung a dozen of her student's quilts outside her quilt shop, The Stitchin' Post. This small gesture grew into an annual event in Sisters, the nation's largest outdoor quilt show which now serves as the celebratory anchor of summer in the community. Over 1300 quilts from around the world cover the 1880's-style town in rich texture and color. |
|
Local quilt guild members from Lebanon Oregon started with their 'orphan' blocks, ultimately creating three large sections that entirely cover Peggy Christopherson's van. It took more than a year for the group to complete the project. |
Hanging of the quilts! |
This creative young artist was wood burning designs using the warm sunshine and a magnifying glass. It was very impressive. | |
Let's begin our stroll through town...ready, set, go! |
|
This quilt was hung at the local bicycle shop; that sign is not part of the quilt. |
|
Very intricate cutting and piecing of the blocks to make the quilt on the left! |
|
This is just a very small photo collection of the quilts on display. Credit goes out to all the quilt designers, quilt makers and machine quilters that created ALL the 1300+ beautiful quilts in the show. I was not able to catch individual names with the photos but if anyone recognizes a quilt, please send me an email and I would love to give personal credit to your quilt. info@bearcreekquiltingcompany.com |

After a long day of walking, and walking, and walking, Three Creeks Brewing was a restful place to have a fabulous dinner. |
|
Well, any quilt show is not complete without a little shopping. I visited several stores and found some wonderful selections and great customer service. |
