Discovering a fabulous sampler quilt from the 1840s–1860s was an unbelievably exciting moment for me! I was captivated by its oversized, quirky pieced and appliqued blocks—still in wonderful condition and featuring such terrific fabrics. What an amazing find! Through careful study, we’ve reproduced a number of prints from that sampler, as well as from another quilt in my collection from the same era, to honor the makers and celebrate the vibrant colors of the time.
