Nature's Portrait by Riley Blake Designs
Nature's Portrait is a fabric collection inspired by the Royal Horticultural Society Lindley Collections, which houses one of the world's finest collections of botanical drawings, paintings, and literature. The artists featured in Nature's Portrait are Caroline Maria Applebee and Gertrude Jekyll. Caroline Maria Applebee (1787-1854) was an amateur plantswomen and watercolor artist. The daughter of a clergyman from a middle-class family in Essex, England, her work features a wide variety of exotic and ornamental flowers. Gertrude Jekyll (1843-1942), artist, writer and one of the most influential 20th century garden designers. From and extraordinary scrapbook, 'Designs for Carving' (1866-1911), spanning 45 years of her life, our inspiration has been drawn from her sketches within.
